This calculator is one of the most detailed calculator available online. Calculate Actual Yield, Absolute Return, Annualised Return and Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of your investment in Mutual Funds.
You can also calculate Expected amount, Expected Return Rate and Return on Investment (ROI) of your investment in mutual Funds by SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) with / without adjustment for inflation, with year-wise growth chart and year-wise growth data in tabular format.
In simple words, 'return' is the yield that your investment in mutual fund generates over a period of time. It is the increase or decrease in the value of the investment in that period. The return on a mutual fund for a particular predetermined period is calculated using the below formulas:
This is the amount of profit / loss of your investment in Mutual Funds. The formula for calculation of Actual Yield is
(Current NAV - Initial or Purchase NAV) x No. of Units
This is return on your investment in percentage terms. The formula for calculation of Absolute Return % is
(Current NAV - Initial or Purchase NAV)*100 / Initial or Purchase NAV
If your holding period of Mutual Fund units is less than 1 year, this gives the value of return on your investment in percentage terms on annualised basis. The formula for calculation of Annualised Return is
((1 - (Absolute Return/100)) ^ (365 / No. of days)) - 1
When the holding period of Mutual Fund units is more than a year, CAGR is a better way to depict returns. CAGR is annualised return with compounding effect. The formula for calculation of CAGR is
(((Current NAV / Purchase NAV) ^ (1 / no. of years)) - 1) x 100
or
(((Current NAV / Purchase NAV) ^ (12 / no. of months)) - 1) x 100
or
(((Current NAV / Purchase NAV) ^ (365 / no. of days)) - 1 ) x 100
